It is made by impregnating the wood under vacuum-pressure with the Tanalith E 3475 solution recommended for wood exposed to high classes of biodegradation risk, namely: electricity poles, telephone poles, bridge legs, railway sleepers, beams, terraces, fences, gates, etc.
Treatment with TANALITH E 3475
The wood used for the construction of houses, fences, bridges, resistant structures is a vulnerable material and can degrade for several reasons, inside and especially outside. Its resistance to moisture, weather, fungi, molds, insects, fire varies from species to species. However, the resistance can be improved by treating it with various materials, and impregnating the wood with insecticides makes it much more resistant. The wood treated in this way can be used safely for the resistance structures in the houses or for the external structures that have to face the weather or the destructive effects of the UV radiation.

In order to achieve an impregnation in autoclaves, it is necessary to follow the following procedures:
The goods (Timber) to be impregnated will be prepared as follows:
-weighs before impregnation;
-the humidity is taken with a humidity meter;
-sits on the autoclave supply line;
-secures the conveyor belt with straps;
To start the impregnation process, a laboratory test will be performed of the solution in the autoclave basin, thus determining the degree of concentration of the tanalite mixed with water, the temperature of the solution and their notation in the determined tables.
After establishing the concentration of the substance, the mixture is made in the basin by a mixer equipped with the autoclave. If the laboratory tests show that the solution is in normal parameters, the impregnation process can begin! If the necessary adjustments are not made by adding water and solution for the desired concentration.
Check the inside of the autoclave and insert the wood already secured!
The cycle is programmed on a gradual dial that records the entire impregnation process, recording the impregnation time, the values of the initial vacuum, the final vacuum and the pressure in the autoclave!
I. Creating the initial vacuum:
It consists of opening the vacuum valve and starting the vacuum pump, forming the vacuum that acts on the wood, the process evacuates the air from the wood cells. The time given to the initial vacuum is given by the type of wood and the classes of wood use.
The initial vacuum is up to 800 Mbari and can last from 5 minutes to 120 minutes! Then the vacuum pump closes and then the vacuum valve.
II. Autoclave flooding:
In the vacuum conditions created, the tanalith solution will be flooded, opening the pressure pump valve, this process will make the solution in the autoclave basin to be absorbed by the vacuum created in the autoclave until it is filled. Then the valve closes.
III. Applying pressure:
PThe role of the pressure is to penetrate deep into the wood structure, it is made according to the type of wood and the classes of wood use with a time interval from 5 minutes to 120 minutes and consists in opening the pressure pump that exerts a hydraulic pressure. up to a value of 12 bar. For the impregnation under pressure, the use classes will be taken into account as follows
Class 1 - Wood product used indoors, dry environment;
Class 2 - Wood product used in indoor spaces with high humidity;
Class 3 Wood product used in outdoor spaces, unpainted, without contact with the ground;
Class 4 - Wood product used in spaces that come into direct contact with soil and fresh water;
Class 5 - Wood product used in spaces that come into contact with salt water, marine use.
Obtaining the desired pressure, switch off the pressure pump
IV. Autoclave solution evacuation:
After the time given to the pressurization stage, the autoclave is emptied. The vent valve and the drain valve will open, so the solution drains into the basin under the autoclave.
V. Creating the final vacuum:
To create the final vacuum, the vacuum valve will be opened, after which the vacuum pump will be opened, creating the final vacuum influenced by the wood factors, type and class of use, being necessary the waiting time which can be between 5 minutes and 120 minutes. The role of the final vacuum is to extract the excess solution and pump it into the storage container.
Completion of the impregnation cycle:
After the time allowed for the final vacuum, the impregnation process is completed, the vent valve will be opened until the autoclave cylinder is completely depressurized, the door lock will be opened and the wood will be taken out of the autoclave outside on the supply line! The wood in contact with the air, due to the low pressure inside it absorbs the solution from its surface, requiring drying time up to 24 hours, it is left under the roof and only after that it is transported
Once the impregnation stage is completed, it will be necessary to check the laboratory and determine the value of the substance indicated by the hydrometer, recanting the wood, determining the amount of solution missing from the pool due to the impregnation cycle, replacing it with quantities, entering and recording data impregnation cycle.
